Free Journeyman Plumber Service Agreement

One pinhole leak or a handshake deal on a commercial rough-in will bleed your bank account dry faster than a burst main. Without a solid contract, you’re one 'misunderstanding' away from eating the cost of a thousand dollars in copper and a week of lost labor.

Pro Contractor Tip

Include a strict 'Change Order' clause that requires a signed document before any extra work begins, or you’ll end up doing free labor on every 'quick fix' the client dreams up.

Why use a written agreement?

Handshake deals are risky. As a Journeyman Plumber, "scope creep" is your biggest enemy. A clear agreement ensures everyone agrees on the deliverables before money changes hands.

Frequently Asked Questions

What do I do when the GC keeps adding 'small' tasks that aren't in the plan?

You point to the scope of work in your signed agreement and tell them anything extra requires a signed Change Order. A written contract turns a confrontation into a simple business transaction, ensuring you get paid for every turn of the wrench.

How do I handle it when I show up and the site isn't ready for plumbing?

Charge a 'Mobilization Fee' or 'Dry Run' charge as outlined in your contract. Having this in writing compensates you for the gas and time you wasted because their project management failed.

How can I make sure I’m not waiting sixty days to get paid for a two-day job?

Set a milestone payment schedule in your agreement, like 50% upfront for materials and the rest immediately upon inspection sign-off. The contract acts as your leverage to stop work if the checks don't clear when they’re supposed to.
